10.26.0 - Create and clone permission sets

What's new

Create and clone permission sets

The Manage Permissions selection page has two new buttons:

  • New Permission Set creates an empty permission set with a label, API name, description, license and session activation.
  • Clone copies object, field, tab and system permissions, plus access to Apex classes, Visualforce pages, apps, connected apps and custom permissions, from any profile or permission set, including managed ones. If exactly one item is selected, it is preselected as the source, and the license and session activation default to the source's values.
  • When it finishes, the new permission set is selected in the list. A results table shows how many permissions were copied in each category and lists any that Salesforce rejected, with the reason for each (usually a profile-only permission or a license restriction).

See the Manage Permissions docs for details.

Reorder Order By clauses

Each Order By row now has Move Up and Move Down buttons for changing the sort priority. A row keeps its sort direction and nulls setting when it moves, and the buttons work in subqueries too.

Using Scope in the query builder

Advanced Options has a new Using Scope section that adds a USING SCOPE clause to the query, listing only the scopes the selected object supports. For example, choosing "My accounts" generates USING SCOPE mine. Restoring a query from history keeps its scope, or tells you when the object does not support it.

Custom metadata and custom settings in the Formula Evaluator

The Formula Evaluator now lists custom metadata types and custom settings as objects and can evaluate a formula against one of their records. Deploy stays disabled for them because Salesforce does not allow formula fields on either.

Settings opens in its own window

In the desktop app, Settings now opens in a separate window, and the main window stays on the page you were using. Opening Settings again focuses the existing window, Escape closes it, and Cmd+, (Ctrl+, on Windows) opens it. Changes made in Settings, such as the color theme, apply to every open window right away.

Download folder shown on download modals

When a folder is set under Settings → General → Download location, the desktop app saves files there without asking. Download modals now show that folder, with a Change in Settings button that opens Settings and leaves the modal open.

Other fixes

  • Trial Run in Load Records is now disabled for files with fewer than two records, where it previously kept the load from starting.
  • The Create Fields and Create Object confirmation modals now show the target org, in yellow for production orgs.
  • Leaving Update Records while it is still fetching the records to update now stops the fetch instead of letting it continue in the background.
  • The Formula Evaluator record search no longer fails when the search term contains an apostrophe.
  • The close button on notifications in the desktop app now works.
  • A new Deploying the Desktop App on Windows page explains silent installs and upgrades with Intune, SCCM and similar tools.
